We create your pendant

Your pendant is crafted, engraved and carefully checked before being shipped from our Dutch atelier.

Part one — submitting your personalisation.

Fingerprint sample

Fingerprint impression

Submitted from an existing fingerprint impression — not from a photograph of a finger.

We work from an ink, graphite or previously recorded fingerprint impression. A clear photograph or scan of the fingerprint itself is required, as the fine ridge details cannot be captured from a photograph of a finger.

✓ Ink or graphite fingerprint impression on paper · Previously recorded fingerprint card · Clear photograph of a fingerprint impression · Clear scan of a fingerprint impression

✗ Photograph of a finger · Blurry fingerprint impression · Fingerprint photographed from an angle · Low-resolution image

Portrait photograph

A photograph of the person or pet you want to keep close. Most photographs — including older prints and phone pictures — can be beautifully engraved.

Front-facing portraits work best. The face should be clearly visible, in focus, and well lit. Older photographs and scanned prints are accepted. If your photograph includes other people, note which face to engrave in your order.

✓ Clear front-facing portrait · Good natural lighting · Older or scanned photograph · Group photo with face specified

✗ Heavily backlit · Face in shadow · Very low resolution · Face too small in frame

Handwriting impression

A handwritten message, signature or a few meaningful words, preserved exactly as they appear on the original.

Dark ink on white or light paper with strong contrast. A single line, a short phrase, or a full signature all work well. The original is not required — a clear photograph of a card or letter is sufficient. We render the writing as closely as possible to the source without alteration. A short message often has the greatest emotional impact.

✓ Dark ink on white or light paper · Signature or short phrase · Photograph of a card or letter · Faded writing — submit and we assess

✗ Typed or printed text · Very low contrast · Extremely small writing · Digital handwriting font

Paw print impression

A paw print from a loyal companion, carefully reproduced from an existing impression or photograph.

A paw print impression on paper, photographed clearly in natural light from directly above. Most vets and animal cremation services offer paw print impressions at the time of passing — ask specifically. If no impression exists, contact us before ordering and we will advise on what is possible.

✓ Ink impression on paper · Previously made paw print charm photographed

✗ Smeared or incomplete impression · Photograph taken from an angle · Poor lighting with shadows across the print

Part two — After your pendant arrives

STEP 01

What arrives in the box

Inside the box: the pendant on its chain, a polishing cloth, a filling kit with a small funnel tool, printed care instructions, and filling instructions.

STEP 02

How much ash fits

The compartment holds a small symbolic amount — typically less than 0.05 grams. This is intentional. The pendant carries a symbolic portion while the urn remains complete. You do not need to transfer a significant amount.

STEP 03

Filling the pendant

If your screw has an eyelet, you can open the compartment by hand. If it doesn't have an eyelet, use the screwdriver provided. Use the funnel to guide a small amount of ash inside. If the screw feels difficult to turn, this is usually because there is too much ash near the thread — press the ash down gently and clear the thread of ash. If your screw has an eyelet, check it faces the correct direction before tightening. Tighten gently — do not overtighten.

STEP 04

Care and daily wear

Your pendant is made to last a lifetime and suitable for daily use, including in the shower — 316L surgical-grade steel is resistant to tarnish, water, and sweat. Clean it with the polishing cloth provided and check the screw seal periodically. Avoid prolonged saltwater or chlorine exposure. Prevent permanent damage to your pendant: it's best worn alone. If you do want to wear multiple necklaces at once, choose different lengths.
