A fingerprint pendant preserves the unique lines that belong to one person and no one else. We work from an existing fingerprint impression, carefully prepared and engraved onto surgical-grade steel.
A fingerprint is submitted from an existing impression — not taken directly from a finger at the time of ordering. It can come from an ink impression or a graphite (pencil) impression, as both hold ridge detail clearly enough to engrave. An ink impression can be taken at home with an ink pad, or arranged through the funeral home (ask for this specifically — many offer it as standard). A graphite impression — a simple pencil rubbing — is something you can take yourself at home. Other accepted sources include an existing impression already on paper, or a previously made fingerprint charm photographed clearly.

I don't have an existing fingerprint impression.
Contact us before ordering. Many funeral homes will take an impression retrospectively if asked.
The fingerprint is faint or partial.
Submit it. We assess every image individually and always contact you before production if quality is a concern. A faded or partial impression can still produce a meaningful result.
Can I use a fingerprint from a document or ink stamp?
Only if the ridge lines are clearly visible and not distorted by paper texture. Submit it and we will assess before production.
Is an ink impression or a graphite impression better?
Both can work well. Ink generally gives the cleanest result, but a graphite impression — for example one taken with a pencil rubbing — is also accepted as long as the ridge lines are clearly visible. Submit what you have and we will assess it before production.
